Controversial New Home Kit For 2015/16

The new kits for next season have been confirmed, and indeed they confirm reports that leaked a few months ago. The new home kit features horizontal hoops for the first time ever, while the away kit is yellow at the front, with the familiar red and yellow stripes at the back.

The design of the new home shirt is sure to stoke the fires of controversy and injustice amongst cules, much as the decision to display a sponsor on the front of the shirt did a couple of years ago. However, the kit matches the flags waved at home games, so hopefully supporters will get on board with this new design quickly.

The collar of the new home shirt features the Catalan flag’s red and yellow stripes, and there is also a yellow stripe down the side of the shirt. The Unicef logo is on the bottom of the back of both home and away jerseys.

I will go on record now and say that I like this shirt a lot. It may be the first time that hoops have been used on the home shirt, but it isn’t the first time the club have ventured away from the vertical. So, if you are railing against this new shirt, take a moment and look at your old replicas, because I’m betting they’re not all stripy!

As for the away shirt, this is particularly striking this year:

Barca have often had garish and, let’s face it, downright nasty away shirts in the past. This one, though, looks really good. Not as good as the current one with the yellow and red stripes all over it (my favourite away shirt ever), but it does have appeal. The plain gold front is complimented nicely by the stripes on the back, and the blue shorts and gold socks really set the whole kit off well.

The collar of the away kit has the red and blue stripes, which really contrast rather nicely, and the blue stripe down the side stands out too.

All in all, two very striking kits, and they will prove popular with supporters, once they have got used to the hoops anyway!
